the firestore part didn't work, I did whatever steps I could but the actual application didn't even load, very disappointing

Had to enter a name for the firestore (and chose default), but somehow both the server code (which needed changes) and the check progress did not work.

why bother starting with an in-memory dictionary variable as a "database"? it's unnecessary to show how to use Firestore and just creates a need to waste time updating code.
