the image for the client VM in section 4 is no longer valid. Running apt-get update and apt-get install mysql doesnt work. I cannot get the client download and connect to my cloudsql db. I wasted a bunch of time doing this

This lab is broken! When using debian stretch as suggested in the lab, I cannot install mysql-client from the debian apt repo. I also tried same with debian bullseye (11). I switched over to Ubuntu: gcloud compute instances create test-client --zone=us-central1-a --image=ubuntu-2204-jammy-v20230429 --image-project=ubuntu-os-cloud and then everything worked perfectly when using the ubuntu image. So, apparently the debian apt repo for mysql-client is not working for some reason, but the ubuntu apt repo is working fine. There are some stack overflow reports about using a deb file from somewhere else, but it is much easier to use an apt repo, so maybe switching this lab to use ubuntu would be the easiest solution.
