I personally find instructions on task 2 of part 1 to not be clear enough, as they just mention to use AfterWatermark, but then and before that, no clear specifications about the parameters are given. It is solved later in the instructions, but I found myself wasting time trying to figure this out. Also, it's weird that I couldn't find the option for publishing the Pub/Sub message by normal UI navigation, but was able to do so by going to the same part but by clicking a button on a GCP tutorial I googled.
