Couple points: - the command in "Detach from the screen and close your SSH session" is incorrectly written, as it should read "Ctrl+A+D" if you need to press all keys at once, not "Ctrl+A, D" which implies to press the first two, release, then press the third - the final step with start up and shut down scripts failed for me, but there is no troubleshooting text to offer a suggestion about how to fix this. If you're going to have "You should see this" text, you need to include "If you don't, try this" as well otherwise knowing you messed up is pretty frustrating and useless - so mean to dangle a minecraft server and not let me play minecraft (this point is a joke)

could have done with some advice on what to do if original vm created incorrectly - delete VM, delete persistent disk, delete reserved external ip

You might improve this lab by mentioning that the exported environment YOUR_BUCKET_NAME would not be persistent across boots unless you add it to .profile or .bashrc. The backup script would not work after booting because of this.
