The service creation step had an issue with finding the role. I had to press ENTER KEY to be able to select a Role.

The part that ask to add a user to the service account is not clear. I wasn't able to add a user to the service account. Also I could not see the use of that user anyway, since just setting the service account of the compute engine vm instance was enough to carry out tasks related to testing permissions of service accounts.
