Error when removing Email Notifications The instructions suggest deleting the notification channel at the end, but this fails with a "Could not delete... because it is still being referenced" error. The Fix: You must first go to Monitoring > Alerting, select the specific Alerting Policy, click Edit, and remove the email from the Notification Channels section inside the policy. Once the policy is saved without the email, you can then successfully delete the notification channel from the "Edit Notification Channels" menu. 2. SSH Connection Issues (OS Login) I encountered persistent "Permission Denied" or timeout errors when trying to connect to the VM via SSH. This often happens due to project-level IAM restrictions. The Fix: To resolve this, you need to manually edit the VM instance and add a custom metadata entry. Set the Key to enable-oslogin and the Value to FALSE. This bypasses the OS Login requirement and allows the standard SSH keys to function properly.
