Under "Task 3: Create a managed instance group" > "Step 8", the guidance "A warning tells you that there is no load balancer. That's OK; you are going to create and attach one to the Managed Instance Group in the next section." this warning does not appear. Perhaps the GCP Console has changed? Under Task 4, the load balancer (surprisingly) took several minutes to come into service (i.e., with the health instance instance from the MIG appearing behind it). The instructions should state this as I ended up being puzzled troubleshooting it.

Google autoscaling setup is very slow, and frequently things don't work as expected until you wait for a long time.
