Interestingly enough I'm only giving this three stars because it's an untended bug, but it was a useful bug. When I deleted the instance to create the orphaned disk.. it worked properly. I could see the disk in the disks section. However, I couldn't create an image with it. Wouldn't appear in the drop down. I logged out and in, changed pages, refreshed.. no change. So, I decided I'd do it with the Cloud Shell instead. Tested my ability to quickly adapt. gcloud compute images create mywebserver1 --sogoogle4955540_student@cloudshell:~ (qwiklabs-gcp-d6376f51d448de88)$ gcloud compute images create mywebserver1 --source-disk=webserver --source-disk-zone=us-central1-a This created the image I needed with the disk successfully and allowed me to move forward. So, it was definitely still a great learning experience.
