The lab didn't work. User one did not have any permissions to allocate resources in the project. User 2 had several projects allocated - but not documented in the lab. Choosing the lab project, I was not able to follow the lab script due to the failure with user1. These were not cleaned-up environments for the lab. Basically a total failure from my point of view.

GCP project for both users were not selected by default. Moreover both users have more several projects available for selection. I managed to select correct project after few attempts only because other projects had restrictions to view AIM section.
