In Task 1: Preparation, there is a step to create a Service-Account with Project-Editor role. The same service-account is used to upload files to a Storage Bucket. By default Project-Editor role does not have IAM for storage objects and hence its not possible to upload files to the bucket. This needs to be updated (the first service account created in this lab should storage.objects.* permission)
