Quality of the code is not good, especially in terms of scope of variables. Could be much cleaner and easy to understand. The TODO sections are very specific to the programming choices of this particular implementation.

There is an error in the definition of the `get_scal` function . In fact, the line of the return statement of the minmax function has 2 intendent and not a single one
