encryption_key instructions missing detail from https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/gsutil/addlhelp/SupplyingYourOwnEncryptionKeys Also gcloud init doesn't have you select projects. Instead you get the following message: This account has no projects. Would you like to create one? (Y/n)? n Lab still works, but takes a bit longer to figure out what should be going on.

With gsutil ls -la you can see more details of the versions as timestamps and meta-data-version
