Maybe I was expecting something different from BigQuery, but this felt just like any SQL database I have ever used. I understand that the scale and data wharehousing is what BigQuery offers, but I thought there would be more analytical tools available than just what was in SQL. When the GCP environment first starts up it is in the "Qwiklabs Resources" project for which the user has no permissions. When I attempt to use the drop down at the top to change projects it is empty. I click over to the All tab and the projects show for a split second then disapear. I have to go into one of the services (Compute Engine for example) where it asks me there to select a project. Then everything works as expected. There is a typo in Task 4 item 3. It talks about finding the first 100 items for which there are changes but the query is pulling up items with costs (a.k.a. charges).
