ssh my-vm-1.us-central1-a gives "Permission denied (publickey)." which sort of makes sense. I am not sure where the key is since it is not in ~/.ssh as I would expect. In any case I would hache to possibly chmod the permissions on the key. the way the instructions are written the step by step guide fails here. I opened vm-1 using the browser ssh button and worked through that. In my opinion this is an oversight

the external IP denied access for me. I don't know why and could not troubleshoot. I checked the logs and it looks like all the firewall rules were "deny" despite the fact that i certainly checked the "HTTP traffic" checkbox when creating the VM.
